Principal Design Features This is an alloy of molybdenum with small amounts of titanium and zirconium added. It is made by arc melting and casting or by powder metallurgy technique.

Applications Used for extrusion dies, boring bars (for rigidity), nuclear applications and heat exchangers. This alloy is noted for its high hot strength and is useful in hot die applications.

Machinability The alloy may be machined by conventional methods using tungsten carbide or high speed steels with soluble oil lubricant.

Forming May be formed by bending, rolling, stamping by conventional means,

Welding The alloy may be welded by resistance welding or fusion welding. Note that at temperatures above 930 F the alloy will oxidize rapidly and form a glass-like coating.

Heat Treatment Not applicable. See "Annealing".

Forging No data.

Hot Working No data.

Cold Working Cold works by conventional means.

Annealing Anneal at 2600 to 2900 F in a protective atmosphere.
